British chemical company Ineos is working on a new pickup truck called the Grenadier, based off their rugged SUV. A prototype of the truck has been seen and it looks like its release will be soon, maybe even before 2021!

Ineos teased about an extended version of their Grenadier SUV when it came out in 2020. The prototype looks like the teaser with a roomy crew cab and what seems to be a big bed. It is also expected that there will be Grenadier pickups that come with just one cabin.

The Grenadier vehicle has a unique frame design with a body-on-frame construction. To help cut down on weight, the body of the car is made out of aluminum, special steels and some composite materials. On the inside, it has the same or similar features as an SUV and its axle has springs that get stronger based on weight placed on them.

For the SUV, Ineos states that it has a distance of 10.4 inches off the ground, allowing it to go through water up to 31.5 inches deep, and angles of 35.5 degrees when approachng something, 28.2 degrees when breaking over it and 36.1 when going away from it.

The SUV offers two engine choices: one powered by gas and the other powered by diesel. Both of these engines have turbochargers that make them 3.0-liters in size and are connected to an 8-speed automatic transmission as well as four-wheel drive, with a switch for up to three locking differentials.

Last year, production of a new SUV called the Grenadier began in France and it was delivered to some countries in Europe. Ineos wants to bring the Grenadier to the USA by the end of 2023, and they are only focusing on making it with a gas engine for this market.

Ineos is also making plans to build a smaller vehicle that runs on electricity. But, right now we don’t know when it will be released.
