Pagani Huayra Imola Roadster Unveiled with 838-hp V-12 Engine

Pagani recently introduced the convertible version of its high-performance Huayra Imola, initially launched three years prior.

The Huayra Imola Roadster, a brainchild of Pagani’s Grandi Complicazioni special projects division, is the company’s newest marvel. This division was first brought into the spotlight last year with the introduction of the elongated Huayra Codalunga. The production of the Roadster is limited to eight units, which is three more than the coupe version.

Matching its coupe version in radical design, the Roadster surpasses it in power due to advancements in its V-12 engine. This engine, a 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-12 used across the Huayra range, has been fine-tuned for greater output. Designed by Mercedes-Benz AMG, it now produces 838 hp, a step up from the 827 hp in the Imola coupe.

The rear wheels receive this immense power through a 7-speed sequential gearbox, tailor-made by Xtrac for Pagani’s high-end vehicles. While it lacks the smoothness of dual-clutch or conventional automatic transmissions, this sequential setup offers quick, lightweight operation. This contributes to the Imola Roadster’s impressively low dry weight of 2,777 pounds.

The Roadster, like all Pagani models, utilizes carbon-fiber for its chassis and body. Its bodywork includes new aerodynamic elements, inspired by insights from the Huayra R, Pagani’s track-exclusive model. At speeds of 174 mph, the vehicle can generate over 1,320 pounds of downforce.

Pagani also projects the Roadster to achieve up to 2.2 g of lateral acceleration. Contributing to this are the Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires, with sizes 265/30 in the front and 355/25 in the rear. The vehicle sits on 20-inch front and 21-inch rear forged wheels, connected to an aluminum double-wishbone suspension system with helical springs and electronically controlled dampers.

The name “Imola” is derived from the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari racetrack, located near the Italian town of Imola, where Pagani extensively tests its vehicles, including the Imola series.

While the pricing for the Roadster is yet to be disclosed, the Imola coupe was initially priced at 5 million euros (around $5.4 million).
