First introduced at the Geneva motor show in 2015, the Regera boasts a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine and three electric motors, delivering a mind-blowing combined output of 1,500 hp and 1,475 lb-ft of torque. All that power is transmitted to the rear wheels via Koenigsegg’s innovative Direct Drive system, which replaces the conventional transmission with a hydraulic coupling and a single-speed reduction gear – a more efficient solution as per Koenigsegg’s claim.
Having manufactured 80 customer units, Koenigsegg delivered the first Regera in 2018 and concluded production in 2022. Currently, Koenigsegg’s efforts are directed towards delivering the initial models of its Jesko supercar, which also features a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 but without the hybrid system. The Jesko is capable of outputting 1,280 hp and can rev up to 8,500 rpm. No plans for record attempts have been announced for this model yet.
