A brand new Mercedes-Benz E-Class, version 2024, will soon be released and AMG plans to create versions with improved performance. We have seen prototypes of the new and redesigned E 53 sedan, and now there is a photo of it as a wagon too! The E 53 is expected to launch by late 2020 or early 2021.

The E 53 Wagon was never sold in the U.S., but its bigger and more powerful version, the E 63 S Wagon, was available here. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely that we’ll see the new E 53 Wagon being sold here anytime soon. However, there is still hope that the newer and more advanced model of wagon – the E 63 S longroof – will be made available to U.S. buyers.

We can easily tell that this prototype is for the E 53 Wagon because it has a particular type of wheel and tires combo as well as bigger brakes and four round exhaust tips. The updated version of this car, which is the E 63, should have similar features but with square-shaped exhaust tips instead.

There will be a 4-cylinder engine in the new ‘E 53’, replacing the old 6-cylinder model. It is also rumoured that the same thing will happen to the ‘E 63’ which currently has an 8-cylinder engine.

The good news is that this redesign should boost performance despite having fewer cylinders, since electrification will be helping out. The current E 53 is already powerful with its 3.0-liter turbo-6 and mild hybrid setup producing 429 horsepower. With this change, we can expect something even more powerful, like around 500 HP!

The new E 63 car is reported to have a turbo-4 engine combined with an electric motor in back which is also seen on the 2024 C 63 S E Performance that makes up to 671 horsepower. On the other hand, the current E 63 has a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 under its hood that produces a maximum of 603 hp.

The brand new E-Class from Mercedes uses an updated platform known as MRA rear-wheel-drive architecture. This platform first appeared on the 2021 S-Class and is now found on the 2022 C-Class. Using more aluminum instead of steel makes this platform much lighter than before.

The inside of the cabin is getting an upgrade with up to three screens! There will be one for the driver which shows you all your info, one for the passenger, and a third for playing cool games like Angry Birds and TikTok. We’ll keep you posted as development continues!
