In comparison, the regular X1 reaches a maximum of 241 hp in its internal-combustion version and 308 hp in the electric iX1 variant.
The 2024 BMW X1 M35i
Paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system as standard, the X1 M35i offers precise and responsive handling. The transmission includes paddle shifters for manual control, while holding the left paddle for one second activates the sportiest settings for all chassis systems. Additionally, the transmission features a built-in mechanical limited-slip differential for the front axle, enhancing the vehicle’s cornering capabilities.
To further optimize the chassis, BMW has equipped the X1 M35i with adaptive dampers and impressive brake rotors measuring up to 15.2 inches at the front and 13.0 inches at the rear. The brake calipers, painted gray and adorned with the iconic “M” logo, consist of four-piston units. While the standard wheel size is 19 inches in diameter, buyers have the option to upgrade to 20-inch wheels.
Setting the X1 M35i apart from the regular X1 lineup are several distinctive styling elements. These include a unique M version of the front grille featuring horizontal double bars, four exhaust tips with a diameter of 3.1 inches each, as well as aerodynamic enhancements such as front and rear spoilers, new side skirts, and sleek, low-drag side mirror caps.
The Interior of the 2024 BMW X1 M35i
Inside, the X1 M35i offers a refined cabin with Alcantara trim, an M-branded steering wheel, M-branded treadplates and pedals, and customized graphics for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. For added support, M-branded front seats with enhanced bolstering are available as an option.
Notably, the X1 M35i is among the first BMW models to showcase version 9.0 of the automaker’s iDrive infotainment system. Powered by Google’s Android operating system (as opposed to the Linux-based current iDrive), this updated version promises improved usability. It introduces a QuickSelect feature, providing convenient access to frequently used functions on the current screen. BMW also highlights that the new iDrive system allows for individually configurable graphics to be displayed on the infotainment screen, offering an alternative to the standard navigation map view.
Production of the X1 M35i takes place at BMW’s manufacturing facility in Regensburg, Germany.
