The most recent restomod offering from Ringbrothers, a firm located in Wisconsin, is a meticulously reimagined 1972 Chevrolet K5 Blazer, affectionately named “Raskal.”
In a formal press statement, Ringbrothers disclosed that the team devoted approximately 2,800 man-hours to the development of this vehicle, paying particular attention to each external component. The original hardtop, alongside the side and rear glass, has been substituted with a two-piece detachable canopy. Meanwhile, the original hood has been replaced by a component fashioned from carbon fiber. Additionally, both the quarter panels and the tailgate were elevated to align with the door height, and the door handles were repositioned to the upper part of the doors, contributing to a streamlined aesthetic. Despite these modifications, the vehicle retains its characteristic K5 Blazer identity.
Engine and Performance Specifications for Ringbrothers’ Raskal 1972 Chevrolet Blazer
The original powertrain has been replaced by a General Motors LS3 6.2-liter V-8 engine, which delivers a substantial 430 horsepower and 425 pound-feet of torque. This engine is complemented by a GM 4L80E 4-speed automatic transmission and an advanced four-wheel-drive mechanism, featuring Dana 44 front and Dana 60 rear axles.
The Raskal is additionally outfitted with a tailor-made RS4 chassis, produced by the Roadster Shop. This chassis incorporates a triangulated four-link suspension system, enhanced by Fox Racing coilovers. Braking capabilities are significantly improved, courtesy of Baer 6-piston calipers and 13.0-inch rotors at both the front and rear. The unique 18-inch wheels maintain a design reflective of the original factory blueprint and are equipped with 35-inch Nitto Ridge Grappler tires.
Interior Innovations
Inside the vehicle, the Ringbrothers team has lowered the flooring to create additional space and to accommodate newly designed seats, which are notably more comfortable and were crafted in-house. The dashboard features advanced Dakota Digital gauges, framed by custom bezels created by Ringbrothers, along with modernized climate control and audio systems, as well as a bespoke steering wheel.
This is not Ringbrothers’ inaugural venture into K5 Blazer restomods. The company previously revealed another version, named “Bully,” at the 2022 SEMA show. That particular model featured a staggering 1,200-horsepower supercharged 6.8-liter LS3 V-8 engine. Compared to Bully, the Raskal appears to be a more practical choice for regular usage.
