Fast X: Part II

During the premiere of “Fast X” last month, Vin Diesel revealed plans for two more films to conclude the “Fast and Furious” series that began with “The Fast and the Furious” in 2001. Diesel, in his role as Dominic Toretto, recently confirmed via Instagram that the first of these two films, currently dubbed “Fast X: Part II” and marking the 11th in the series, will be released on April 4, 2025.

The schedule for the 12th and final film in the series is yet to be determined.

Contrary to his statements in 2021, when Diesel mentioned only one more film following “Fast X” would conclude the narrative, he shared during the Rome premiere of “Fast X” that Universal Pictures, the producer, desired a trilogy to conclude the saga rather than the initially planned two-part finale.

The “Fast and Furious” franchise has expanded beyond the initial narrative, with “Hobbs and Shaw” in 2019 marking the first spinoff. It appears the series could continue through similar spinoffs. Earlier this month, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who plays Luke Hobbs in the franchise, tweeted about an upcoming Hobbs spinoff film that will be a precursor to “Fast X: Part II.”

Despite Johnson’s 2021 declaration of departure from the franchise, his character, Hobbs, is set to reappear in the main series. This return was announced in a post-credits scene of “Fast X” featuring Hobbs.

This cameo introduced the new antagonist, Dante Reyes, portrayed by Jason Momoa. Reyes contacts Hobbs to inform him that he’s his upcoming target as retribution for his father’s murder. Reyes’ family was killed during the bridge chase in “Fast Five,” and “Fast X” revolves around Reyes’ retaliation against Toretto. The fate of Toretto is left uncertain following a dam explosion at the film’s climax.
