Sammy Hagar LaFerrari Auction

The 2015 Ferrari LaFerrari, previously owned by Van Halen’s lead singer Sammy Hagar, is set for auction by Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, Arizona, this January.

This particular LaFerrari isn’t just notable for its celebrity ownership. It boasts a distinctive cream color for both its exterior and interior, a personal selection of Hagar inspired by a 1960s Ferrari he saw during a visit to Ferrari’s Maranello factory in 2014.

Hagar has expressed his fondness for the LaFerrari, labeling it his top vehicle choice and accumulating approximately 1,100 miles on it—a considerable amount for a limited-edition supercar. At 76, Hagar mentioned in a USA Today interview that he’s stepping back from driving this car due to declining eyesight and reflexes.

Introduced in 2013, the LaFerrari represents Ferrari’s premier offering and forms part of the exclusive trio of hybrid supercars, alongside the McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder. It features a 6.3-liter V-12 engine, dual electric motors, and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, delivering a staggering 950 horsepower. This enables it to accelerate from 0-60 mph in under 3 seconds and reach a top speed of 217 mph.

Ferrari’s initial production of the LaFerrari coupe included 499 units, plus one additional for charity auction. It also manufactured 209 LaFerrari Aperta convertibles, with one extra car for charity, which sold for $10 million.

Roughly ten years since the debut of the LaFerrari, its successor, codenamed F250 (LaFerrari was F150), has been observed undergoing tests at Ferrari’s Fiorano circuit. Planned for a 2026 release, this successor is expected to have a slightly larger production of around 600 coupes and an additional 250-200 convertible models. However, Hagar is unlikely to be one of the prospective buyers.
