Honda Unveils the Updated 2024 Ridgeline with New TrailSport Edition

For the 2024 model year, Honda has introduced an array of enhancements to the Ridgeline, including a robust TrailSport trim. This latest iteration marks the second update to Honda’s midsize pickup since its debut in 2017, with the initial refresh occurring in 2021.

The upgraded 2024 Ridgeline was presented on Monday and is set to hit the market this winter. This new model not only showcases a design refresh but also features technological advancements within its interior.

Overview of the 2024 Honda Ridgeline

The Ridgeline maintains its crossover-like unibody construction, distinguishing itself from the traditional body-on-frame design commonly found in American pickups and preferred by many off-road enthusiasts. Nonetheless, the new TrailSport grade is poised to enhance off-road capability with key improvements. These enhancements encompass a suspension system optimized for increased articulation, robust 18-inch wheels clad in 245-size General Grabber All-Terrain Sport tires, and a sturdy steel plate safeguarding the oil pan. Similar upgrades are also found in the 2024 Passport TrailSport.

The AWD system in the Ridgeline is engineered to precisely distribute torque between the front and rear axles and across the rear wheels. Moreover, the vehicle includes a drive mode selector that accommodates various terrains, including sand, snow, mud, and asphalt.

TrailSport Trim in Detail

While the updates to the 2024 Ridgeline’s exterior are nuanced, they do include a notable stamp of the pickup’s name on the tailgate, which maintains its dual-action functionality. The TrailSport version introduces a bolder front grille, accentuated with black and gray detailing, and distinctive five-spoke wheels. It also offers an exclusive Diffused Sky Blue paint option. Inside, the TrailSport boasts orange contrast stitching and branded logos, adding to its unique appeal.

Standard in all 2024 Ridgelines is a 7.0-inch digital instrument display and a larger 9.0-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. The technology package is comprehensive, with wireless compatibility for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a newly designed center console that includes a wireless charging pad. The lineup also comes equipped with an array of driver-assist technologies, such as collision mitigation, lane keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control, complemented by a reminder for the rear seating area.

Powertrain and Production

Honda has yet to disclose the specifics of the 2024 Ridgeline’s powertrain; however, it is expected to match the current model’s capabilities, with a payload capacity of 1,583 pounds and a towing limit of 5,000 pounds. The 2023 model features a 280-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 engine paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission.
