Mercedes-Benz E-Class Wagon

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the 2024 E-Class Wagon in European specifications, but unfortunately, it will not be available in the United States.

According to a Mercedes spokesperson named Andrew Brudnicki, the standard version of the new E-Class Wagon will not be sold in the U.S. However, there may be a future announcement regarding the All Terrain model, which is the only variant of the current-generation E-Class Wagon sold in the U.S.

Moving to the same sixth-generation platform as the E-Class sedan, which is set to arrive in U.S. showrooms later this year, the 2024 E-Class Wagon showcases similar exterior styling to its sedan counterpart. It boasts a coefficient of drag (Cd) of 0.26, slightly better than the previous-generation model’s 0.27 Cd, despite having a slightly larger frontal area.

In terms of dimensions, the new wagon is 1.1 inches wider than its predecessor, with a wheelbase increased by 0.8 inch to 116.5 inches. These changes result in improved elbow room and maximum cargo space of 21.7 cubic feet with the rear seats up, expanding to 64.6 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded down, according to Mercedes.

The wagon shares the same range of technological features as the sedan, including up to three screens, depending on the specification. These include a 12.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.4-inch central touchscreen, and a 12.3-inch front passenger screen. Notably, the front passenger screen employs a camera-based “filtering concept” to prevent the driver’s line of sight from being obstructed.

Additionally, the wagon introduces a new digital key feature compatible with iPhone and Apple Watch devices. It also allows integration of third-party apps like TikTok, Angry Birds, WebEx, and Zoom. However, these features can only be utilized when the vehicle is stationary for safety reasons.

Similar to the sedan, the wagon incorporates artificial intelligence into its infotainment system, enabling it to learn the user’s preferences and routines. Furthermore, a new feature has been introduced in the Energizing Comfort wellness system to help prevent motion sickness.

In Europe, the 2024 E-Class Wagon will be available with a standard air-spring rear suspension and various powertrain options, including plug-in hybrid, gasoline, and diesel engines, with mild hybrid technology incorporating an integrated starter-generator.

It is anticipated that the sedan and wagon will be the sole body styles offered in the sixth-generation E-Class lineup. The coupe and convertible variants, along with the corresponding C-Class models, are expected to be replaced by a unified model range known as the CLE-Class.
