Fisker Ocean Force E off-road package

Fisker has recently elaborated on its upcoming Force E off-road package, specifically engineered for the Ocean compact electric SUV. Initially unveiled in May and officially presented in August during Fisker’s inaugural Product Vision Day in California, this package is expected to hit the market in early 2024. Price details will be made available as the release date approaches.

The off-road package aims to enhance the Ocean’s capabilities in rugged terrains and will be available for purchase either bundled with the vehicle or as a subsequent retrofit. Initially, this package will be exclusive to the top-tier Extreme and One models, with plans to extend its availability to the Ultra model at a future date.

Included in the package are numerous performance enhancements such as elevated suspension systems, specialized dampers, 20-inch wheels outfitted with 33-inch all-terrain tires, widened wheel arches, and skid plates at both front and rear. An additional underbody shield to protect the battery is also part of the package.

The package will also incorporate a specialized drive mode tailored for off-road conditions, delivered via an over-the-air software update. For those interested in extra cargo capacity, an optional roof storage box will be made available separately.

The development of the Force E package was overseen by Magic Works, Fisker’s specialized projects and customization department based in the United Kingdom. This department is also currently working on the Fisker Ronin convertible model.

Henrik Fisker, the CEO and founder of Fisker, stated, “Force E represents our initiative to introduce zero-emission alternatives into the off-road segment, allowing enthusiasts of outdoor activities to enjoy nature in a more sustainable manner, devoid of the drawbacks commonly associated with traditional internal-combustion vehicles that have long dominated this sector.”

Fisker began delivering the Ocean this past summer. The electric SUV comes in a variety of grades including Sport, Ultra, Extreme, and a limited-edition One, with prices starting at $37,499.

As for performance specifications, the base Sport model features front-wheel drive and is powered by a single electric motor generating 275 horsepower, enabling a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 6.9 seconds. Although Fisker has not divulged specifics regarding the battery, they estimate an EPA-rated range of approximately 250 miles.

Conversely, buyers of the Extreme and One grades will be privy to a more robust 550-horsepower dual-motor system, slashing the 0-60 mph time to an estimated 3.6 seconds. These higher-end models will be equipped with a 113-kWh battery, which has received an EPA rating of an impressive 360-mile range.

Details regarding the mid-tier Ultra model have yet to be disclosed by Fisker.

Interesting, but the real question is, how reliable will it be? I mean Fisker’s cool and all, but reliability is key for off-roading.

Early 2024 huh? Gives Tesla some time to catch up I guess. But those specs, especially the 550-hp dual-motor, sounds insane.

all sounds great on paper. But until they release pricing details, I’m reserving judgement. Could be way too expensive for what it offers.
