Acura is set to showcase its latest performance offerings at the upcoming Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The 2024 Integra Type S, recently released for sale, will be put to the test in the race. However, Acura has partnered with HPD to create a specialized racing version of the car, which will compete in the Exhibition category. Behind the wheel of this custom Integra Type S will be Loni Unser, a member of the renowned Unser racing family who made her Pikes Peak debut in 2022 and finished second in her class.

While the mechanical components of Loni’s car will remain mostly stock, a few modifications have been made, including a Borla exhaust, 19-inch Titan 7 wheels, Yokohama Advan A005 tires, and a carbon-fiber front splitter and rear wing. The Integra Type S, priced at $51,995 (including shipping), is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo-4 engine producing 320 hp, paired exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive.

In addition to the Integra, Acura will also bring a highly modified NSX Type S to Pikes Peak. Despite the second-generation NSX no longer being in production, Acura has developed an enhanced version with aerodynamic upgrades to increase downforce and reduce drag. This custom NSX Type S, created by HART, a dedicated racing team consisting of Honda volunteers, features an active rear wing, an extended front splitter, a large diffuser, and reduced weight by approximately 200 pounds. It is powered by a turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine combined with three electric motors, delivering a total of 600 hp. Two of the electric motors are positioned at the front, while the third is located at the rear, working alongside the V-6 powertrain.

Behind the wheel of the NSX Type S Active Aero Study, as it is known, will be Pikes Peak veteran James Robinson. In 2020, he set a class record time of 10:01.913 while driving another NSX at the event. Acura’s participation in this year’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is scheduled for June 25.

In addition to the Integra Type S and NSX Type S, Acura will also enter a custom Integra and TLX Type S in the race, driven by Paul Hubers and Jordan Guitar, respectively. Furthermore, a 2023 TLX Type S PMC Edition has been designated as the official pace car for the event.
