The newest version of Mercedes-Benz C-Class has just arrived in dealerships across the US! It’s called the AMG C 43 and it costs $61,050. But, if you want something even better, there’s another option coming soon. The AMG C 63 S E Performance is going to be released later this year and that will cost more.
The C 43 is a car released one year ago that offers great performance and comes with lots of features as standard. It switched out its previous 6-cylinder engine for a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with help from a 48-volt electric system – the same kind used in Formula 1 racing.
The electric motor sits between the turbine wheel (exhaust side) and the compressor wheel (intake side) of the turbocharger. It makes the engine more responsive by starting up the compressor at low engine speeds, before the exhaust gases kick in, reducing “turbo lag”. Formula 1 cars also use a type of electric motor to get energy from their exhaust but this is not present in a C 43 car. Instead, this car has a mild-hybrid system that recovers energy.
The C 43 car has an engine that can generate 402 horsepower and a mild-hybrid system which acts as a temporary booster by providing 13 more horsepower in tough situations. The power is then sent to all four wheels using a 9-speed automatic gear with the rear wheels getting more power (31/69 front-to-rear split). Rear wheel steering is also installed as standard. This means that it takes only 4.6 seconds to reach 60 mph speed with the standard 18 inch wheels, and its top speed limit is set at 155 mph.
The C 43 has been adjusted specifically for a sporty ride. It comes with special sports suspension and adjustable dampers that can be set to different preset modes called Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Slippery and Individual. You can also adjust the speed-sensitive steering system to make your drive smoother or more fun.
To stop the C 43, it’s equipped with four pistons and a 14.6-inch rotor in the front, and one piston and a 12.6-inch rotor in the back. Its weight is about 3,893 pounds.
The C 43 looks kind of like the regular C Class but it’s got some pretty cool things inside. It’s got a 12.3-inch screen to show you the instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch floating display for the infotainment system. Also, it has a flat steering wheel, heated front seats, fancy lighting in the cabin, LED headlights, cameras that help you see all around and also sensors for parking and keeping an eye out for any blind spots.
The Pinnacle model of Mercedes costs $63,850. It includes special extras like a navigation system with augmented reality, a head-up display with AMG-specific content, a special audio system called Burmester and wireless charging for devices. Buyers can also spend extra money to get additional styling packs and wheel options.
