Ford recently shared a teaser on social media of an upcoming dragster car based on the Mustang model. The sticker at the back says it’s called ‘Mustang Super Cobra Jet 1800’ and you can tell from the sound it makes that it’ll be driven by electric power. Also, Ford talked about this car as being “upgraded”.

The clues seem to show that something even more powerful than the Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 released in 2020 is coming our way. The prototype car was mainly used for testing how electric powertrains work in drag racing, and it could make up to 1,502 horsepower at the wheels – enough to make it fly through a quarter mile track in 8.27 seconds while reaching a speed of 168 miles per hour!

Ford recently released a redesigned Mustang and they are working on an electric drag racing version called the Mustang Super Cobra Jet 1800. This new racing car will probably have 1800 horsepower or more. Ford is also talking with NHRA to figure out ways to use electricity in professional drag racing and it seems like the Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 achieved amazing performance already, so it won’t be long until electric drag racing becomes popular.

Ford isn’t the only car company working on electric racing cars. In 2019, Chevrolet’s eCOPO Camaro was able to do really fast times but nobody knows how fast it could really go. So, let the electric drag race begin!
