Porsche is planning to create an electric version of the Cayenne SUV. In addition, they also plan to update the existing model. This new electric vehicle will share many similar parts with the upcoming Macan EV.

In 2026, Porsche is planning to release an electric version of its Cayenne sports utility vehicle. It will be based on a system created by other companies in the same family called Premium Platform Electric (PPE). The Cayenne EV will have some cool extras like torque-vectoring technology, four-wheel steering and an 800-volt electrical architecture. Best of all, it’ll be able to supercharge faster if you split the battery in half.

We don’t know yet what kind of powertrain will be used for the Cayenne EV, but we can assume that its specifications will probably match up to those of the Macan EV. The Macan is set to launch in 2024 and will feature two electric motors that power all four wheels and a 100-kilowatt-hour battery capable of producing 603 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque for the top model. Porsche could also use the lengthier wheelbase of the Cayenne to install an even bigger battery and potentially increase driving range.

The report mentions that the current Cayenne will be around for some more years. It was first launched in 2017, and will get lots of updates to make sure it’s still looking nice and new. People love this car a lot, since other companies are trying hard to compete with it. So Porsche can’t let it slide by and just forget about it.

Porsche has not made any statements about this news, and they have not mentioned what will happen to the Cayenne now.
