On Thursday, Toyota posted a mysterious Instagram that showed a pickup truck in the dark. They captioned it with “Lost in the stars… #LetsGoPlaces.” This might be the 2024 Tacoma model because it looks like the one from leaked drawings which had a spoiler at the back of the cab.
The new Tacoma for 2024 is likely to be released this year and sold in car dealerships by the end of the year.
It will look quite different from older models since some of its parts have been around for more than 10 years.
The 2022 Tacoma pickup truck will feature technology taken from the newly released Tundra full-size truck. It’ll be running on a platform that isn’t available in the US, but has been modified to fit the Tacoma’s size. As a result of this platform, the Tacoma will have better suspension and more stability when off-roading.
The upcoming Toyota Tacoma will have two engine choices. The base version is expected to have a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine from the Toyota Highlander crossover, producing 265 horsepower and 309 pound-feet of torque. This engine will be connected to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The most powerful option available is going to be an electrified version of the same engine, derived from the Lexus RX 500h. It produces 366 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque.
In the future, there will be an electric version of the new Tacoma. The design changes will mostly consist of noticeable tweaks to existing features like the headlights, grille, bumper and taillights – making it look more similar to the bigger Tundra. But don’t expect any major overhauls! People who like how the current model looks should be happy with these changes.
Toyota is going to build a new 4Runner SUV that will use the same parts as the Tacoma.
