Airstream decided to team up with Studio F. A. Porsche to create a new and improved version of their popular trailers. This collaboration created the Airstream Studio F. A. Porsche Concept Travel Trailer, which combines the classic style of Airstream’s trailer with the modern design of Butzi Porsche’s products – his grandfather, Ferdinand Porsche, founded the company that bears their surname.

The shape of the trailer has been changed from other Airstreams to make it move better in the air. It also comes with something never seen before on an Airstream – a specially designed suspension and smooth bottom which helps to reduce drag when driven behind an electric vehicle.

The designers added something special to the Airstream trailer – an insulated “pop-up roof”! This roof made it possible for them to lower the trailer’s height, so that it can even fit inside a garage. Plus, they also kept on Airstream’s popular rear hatch option, but changed its design a bit – now it has two parts: a conventional lift-up hatch, and a drop-down tailgate section!

Inside the concept, everything was changed with a unique floor plan. The seating area can easily change from a place to eat in to an area to sleep on, which is square and very big at 82×61 inches! Plus, there’s a special wet bath on the front side that has a door that can cover up the toilet space.

On March 10, Porsche is celebrating its 75th birthday. At the annual SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, they will display a 1/3-scale model of something new – an idea they have come up with.
