Polestar unveiled their new car, the Polestar 4, at the 2023 Shanghai auto show this week. It’s bigger than the compact Polestar 2 hatch and the mid-size Polestar 3 SUV but beats them both when it comes to performance.

Polestar’s newest model is their fastest yet, and can accelerate from 0-62 mph in only 3.8 seconds – faster than the 619-hp Polestar 1 plug-in hybrid! This speed is generated by a two motor, all-wheel drive system that puts out 536 horsepower. There’s also a version for those who want more range than performance, featuring just one motor.

A Performance Pack is available for purchase, and it includes some cool upgrades like 22-inch wheels, special brakes with four pistons, chassis adjustments for better performance, and gold details inside and outside.

The Polestar 4 runs on a new platform from Zhejiang Geely called the SEA modular EV platform. This was first shown in 2021 in a model called 001 from another Zhejiang Geely brand named Zeekr that has up to 536 horse power!

The biggest car battery is 102-kwh and gives the vehicle over 300 miles of travel on a single charge. It can also be charged really quickly – up to 200 kw – and the special heat pump makes sure that the car’s cabin and battery are kept warm without wasting too much energy.

The outside of this car looks kind of futuristic as it has been designed using elements from a concept car called the Polestar Precept from 2020. Nobody needs to worry about feeling stuck inside, as the car comes with a big glass roof that lets in lots of natural light. Most interestingly, the car doesn’t have any normal windows at the back because it uses cameras to show you what is happening behind you instead.

The inside of the car follows Polestar’s simple design, with just two screens – one for the digital dashboard (10.2 inches) and another for the infotainment hub (15.4 inches). The infotainment system runs on Android so you can use popular Google apps right away, plus you get Apple CarPlay and a head-up display.

Starting in 2024, we’ll know more information about the Polestar 4 and it will cost around $60,000. It will arrive as a 2025 model in US showrooms and is going to be made at a factory in Hangzhou Bay, China. In 2025 there will be a 5 Sedan and 2026 will offer up a 6 sports car with yet another model – called 7 – coming out in 2027.
