Acura is preparing to reintroduce its ZDX badge, this time for a mid-size electric SUV scheduled for launch in early 2024. On Tuesday, the car manufacturer announced that the new vehicle will come equipped with built-in Google applications.
This integration will be a premiere for any Acura model, and the company declared that it would be incorporated in all trim levels of the ZDX. Several other automotive manufacturers are following a similar course.

Among the specified apps are Google Assistant and Google Maps. Inclusion of the Google Play app store will allow vehicle owners to discover and install additional apps.
Google Maps, a widely favored navigation app, often proves to be superior to the navigation systems provided by car manufacturers. It’s especially suitable for EV owners, as it can now optimize routes to include necessary charging stops. Google Maps can even predict the required charging duration to reach a particular destination and instruct the vehicle to precondition the battery for potential DC fast-charging sessions, thereby reducing charging times.
The 2024 Acura ZDX Comes with Built-in Google Apps
Google Assistant can also provide useful assistance while driving. It allows drivers to make calls or send text messages, set reminders, adjust climate settings, and control the navigation system, all via voice activation. It can also be used to control several media apps, making tasks like skipping a track or rewinding a podcast a breeze.
The ZDX will feature support for over-the-air updates, as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A wireless smartphone charger, digital instrument cluster, and a large touchscreen for the infotainment system will be included in the vehicle as well.
While the ZDX will be Acura’s debut electric vehicle, its design will be grounded on General Motors’ Ultium platform and battery technology. It will be assembled at a GM plant. Spy shots suggest that the ZDX will bear a close relation to the Ultium-based Cadillac Lyriq and will incorporate design features hinted at by the Precision EV concept last year.
In another first for Acura, the ZDX will be exclusively available for purchase online. Acura intends to apply this sales strategy to all of its future EVs.
